LEICA SOFORT 2: HYBRID INSTANT CAMERA

Leica has unveiled the Sofort 2, an innovative hybrid instant camera that merges the convenience of digital photography with the charm of analog instant prints. This new model builds on the playful and instant gratification aspect of its predecessor, the original Sofort launched in 2016, but introduces enhanced versatility. Users can now instantly print photos as before, save images for later by shooting directly to a microSD card, or even utilize the camera as a mobile printer to generate instant prints from other Leica cameras through the FOTOS app.

Equipped with a 4.9 megapixel CMOS sensor and a 28mm f/2 equivalent lens, the Sofort 2 doesn't aim to compete with the high-resolution prowess or detailed control of something like the 60 megapixel Q3. Instead, it positions itself as a light-hearted, go-to camera for capturing the essence of daily life with a touch of spontaneity.

Despite shifting away from direct film capture, the Sofort 2 retains its analog spirit by incorporating an LED light printer within its design, using the same Sofort film packs as its predecessor. This means the prints it produces are optically created, maintaining the authentic look and feel of traditional analog photographs.

Available in three color options—white, black, and red—the Sofort 2 maintains a consistent design aesthetic with a black rear panel, equipped with an LCD screen, three simple buttons, and a directional pad for straightforward operation.
